At the Montgomery Rescue Mission “All Year Around We Can Be Found Doing The Work...literally! For the past three months under the direction of Chaplain Curtis Browder Ministries the workers and volunteers at the mission have been in street terms…”Strung Out.” Since April, MRM has had 3 prison revivals and 3 barbecue dinners totalling over 5,500 meals to inmates at three different prisons. From Atmore’s Holman Correctional Facility better known as Death Row to Draper and Elmore County. Over 300 conversions to Christ and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The mission has 6 more revivals to go before the summer is over.

From the Jail House to the to Prison Streets In Haiti, the Montgomery Rescue Mission returned to Haiti to find a facility to hold 22 orphaned children in need of shelter. MRM had to go plan B in the recovery efforts to find housing for the children. The building the mission was in the process of buying the Haitian government would not accept it due to new building codes.

On June 25, 2010, Chaplain Curtis Browder and Michelle Browder returned to Haiti to give food and find shelter to the mission’s orphanage in Delmas 33. With the help of Global Impact, the Ozark’s Ministerial Alliance in Ozark Alabama, and First Congregational Church under the pastoral covering of Pastor Garrett.

Since returning home from Haiti, the Montgomery Rescue Mission sponsored a food give away for over 1,100 people in need of food. WAPZ Radio station along with several members for the community asssisted us in making this endeavor a success. Special thanks to everyone that partisapated in the event, Julie Weller, Joe Hubbard, Lori White, WAPZ, Earnestine with Heart for Special Children and other volunteers, Mrs. Sankey from Isaiah’s Restaurant.

For more information about the trip please see the video and tell a friend about us.

The folks here at the Montgomery Rescue Mission has been busy doing the work of the ministry. In April, Chaplain Browder and the mission team took off to Tennessee to help with the flood victims. Chaplain Browder took over 4,000 pounds of food and water to hard hit communities in Nashville Tennesse.

Upon our arrival the American Red Cross directed us to a little community that had no assistance. No water, no food, no one to see about them at all. Until help came from the Montgomery Rescue Mission. Chap and his team stayed for two days aiding in the clean up efforts and passing out food and water. Way to Go Montgomery Rescue!

What a day it has been! For the past two months the Montgomery Rescue Mission and the entire State of Alabama have been collecting food, water, clothing and monetary donations for the children and people of Haiti. Partners like Brewbaker Campus, Floyd Magnet, Seth Johnson, and Montgomery Academy just to name a few schools. Small cities such as Goodwater, Tuskeegee, Lowndes County, Prattville as far away as Greenville, all chipped in with donations. Businesses such as Rheem, Maya’s Dance Studio, Dience, F and E Sportswear and others joined together to raise money for three orphanages in Haiti. Non-profits like Global Impact and Pat Boles heard the clarion call to assist the mission with transporting goods to Haiti.

On March 22, 2010, the Montgomery Rescue Mission received it’s biggest donor and endorsement to date…Govenor Bob and Patsy Riley joined the team along with Mr. Hosea Morales CEO of EADS/Airbus Military. EADS donated a C-212 plane that will deliver 3,000 pounds to nearly 1,000 people in Port Au Prince, Haiti. What a blessing!!!!

I don’t want to give a whole lot away just yet! When I return from this trip to Haiti I will have much more to share. In the mean time pray for the Riley’s and Mr. Morales and the Browder’s return home from Port Au Prince. God bless and chat with you soon.

A tent – it may not sound like much to you but it’s home for earthquake victims in Haiti. “It was a surprise.,” said Michelle Browder at Montgomery Rescue Mission.

A Montgomery company, MMI Outdoor, donated 150 tents and other supplies to the group. The mission will deliver it all to victims in Haiti. ”The people are sleeping outside. It is important for everyone to have some place to stay,” said Browder.

The Haitian government reports a million Haitians were forced from their homes in the Port-au-Prince area alone. Right now, many Haitians are living in tent cities made from sheets and blankets. The Montgomery Rescue Mission hopes to bring them some relief and comfort. Browder says, “As a missionary, you are supposed to be there in a time of crisis.”

The mission is still in need of monetary donations. To help call 834-0551.

Thanks to our friends at WSFA 12, WVAS 90.7, and WAPZ 95.7 for spreading the word quickly throughout Montgomery regarding the Montgomery Rescue Mission and the mission’s orphanage in Haiti.
Thanks to our friends at WSFA 12, WVAS 90.7, and WAPZ 95.7 for spreading the word quickly throughout Montgomery regarding the Montgomery Rescue Mission and the mission’s orphanage in Haiti. With the current devastation well into 48 hours, mission staffers have not heard from our Haitian contacts nor the mission’s director, Bishop Andre.

Our hearts are moved to take immediate action however, we must sit down and count the cost. That is were you come in. The mission needs the support of our fellow neighbors to add fuel to the fire. As of today, Chaplain Curtis Browder directed the staff to make calls and assessments for the total cost of this trip. His plan is to take a tractor trailer load of; Water, Non-Perishable food items, Can openers, Bicycles, Pillows, First Aid kits, Dry Powder Milk, Rice, Beans, Flashlights, Batteries, Shoes (no heels please), Summer Clothing, Computers, Books, Bleach, Canned meats, but most of all Monetary donations.

Mission staffers at the Montgomery Rescue Mission were trained in disaster relief through the American Red Cross. The mission is carefully devising a plan to send relief and ensure our donors the people of Haiti will receive that relief. MRM’s plan will focus on long term assistance to the Haitian people and the safety of its workers. Our goal is to move by the end of February. MRM is in need of $15,000 to complete this endeavor. The money will cover transportation, shipping, and security charges.

More information will be updated on this site as the plan unfolds. In the mean time feel free to give a little… it means alot! Make your monetary donations online or drop off donated items to the Bargain Center located at at 1728 Mt. Meigs Bargain Center location.

With the help of our friends and neighbors We Can Make A Difference!

Thank you.

Can you imagine fighting a war in a strange land only to return home to find you are now the stranger in a strange land of homelessness and helplessness? Can you wrap your head around the idea of not knowing how you will feed your children because the light bill needs to be paid first? Can you imagine working on a job for decades only to punch the clock and find you are now the latest victim of corporate downsizing or layoffs? The political machine is good to Wall Street while the bellies of our children and honorable veterans are unable to cash in on a decent meal or comfortable housing. It is a reality for many of our friends and families around the nation and Montgomery, Alabama is no exception.

With an economic down turn and growing unemployement rate the mission is in need of donations like never before. Every Thanksgiving for the past 20 years the Montgomery Rescue Mission has answered the call to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, clothe the naked, visit the sick, and give drink to the thirsty.

Now, take a moment and imagine hundreds of people receiving a hot meal or a warm bed because of your donation. Everyday people find refuge and hope at the Montgomery Rescue Mission. The need is great, but your heart is greater. Join us, make a donation of $20.00 or a gift any size.Your gift will make a difference.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer the call.
